Privacy policy
Effective 6 September 2026
CU Explorer (creditunionexplorer.com) is published by SoKat (sokatai.com). This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. The credit-union figures shown on the site are public NCUA call-report filings about institutions, not personal information.
What the site itself collects
Almost nothing. The site has no accounts, no analytics of its own, and sets no cookies of its own. It remembers a few preferences, such as your peer-group filters and the "hide empty fields" switch, in your browser's local storage; that data stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Like every website, our hosting providers record standard server logs (your IP address, the pages requested, browser type and time) to deliver the site and keep it secure. The site is hosted on Vercel, with a mirror on GitHub Pages. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details when the font file is fetched. The InSights view can show a credit union's Google Maps listing on request; the first time you open one, the Google Maps JavaScript API loads from Google, which then receives the same details and applies its own privacy policy.
Appointment and sponsorship requests
If you use the AI-Readiness Assessment or Vendor Sponsorship banner, you send us: your name, email address, phone number, your credit union or company, your preferred meeting date and time of day, and your time zone. We also record the time of the request, your browser type, and a one-way hash of your IP address, which we use only to limit the number of requests per day and per connection. The IP address itself is not stored.
We use this information for one purpose: to contact you and arrange the meeting you asked for. It is stored in a database hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. in the United States, is accessible only to SoKat, and is never sold, rented or shared with third parties, other than the hosting provider that stores it. We keep it for as long as needed to arrange and follow up on your request, and delete it when you ask us to.
If you sign up for the quarterly brief, we store the email address you enter and which page you entered it on, in the same database, and use it only to send that brief. Reply to any brief, or write to us, to be removed.
Advertising
The site may show advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure them. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Where the law requires it, for example for visitors in the European Union and the United Kingdom, we ask for your consent before personalised ads are shown.
Your choices and rights
- You can browse every part of the site without providing any personal information; the request forms are optional.
- You can ask us to show you, correct or delete any information you submitted through the forms, at any time.
- You can clear the site's saved preferences by clearing your browser's site data for this domain.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under data-protection law, including the right to complain to a supervisory authority.
Children
The site is intended for professionals in and around the credit-union industry and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
